    Silver surfers across Europe are signing up for broadband at a faster rate than the average internet user, according to research from the European Interactive Advertising Association (EIAA). Some 68% of all European internet users aged 55 years and over now have a broadband connection.

    BT broadband users have increased to 3.8 million as the company signs up a larger than expected number of customers in the past three months. Some 126,000 people signed up to Carphone Warehouse's TalkTalk service over the same period, putting the service in third place behind Virgin Media.

This increase of 158% on 2002's usage time shows how the population is turning to the internet instead of watching television (down 4% at 3 hours and 36 minutes) and listening to the radio (down 2% at 2 hours and 50 minutes).
