Who will get bite of Facebook?

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Microsoft is talking to Facebook about buying a 5% stake in the social networking site - a move which would value Facebook at £5bn.

Google is also keen to invest - especially given that Microsoft is the exclusive provider of banner advertising on the site.

Facebook has overtaken MySpace as the most popular social networking site amongst UK internet users although it is no longer the fastest growing social network; that honour across 2007 goes to Perfspot.com, according to Nielsen//NetRatings.
