Traditional music store closes as iTunes rival goes live
Multi-channel music retailer ChoicesUK has called in the administrators. Meanwhile, online download service Gbox has launched to sell DRM-free tracks from some of the world's biggest record labels.
The BBC reports that attempts to refinance or sell ChoicesUK have failed. The entertainment group had 225 shops and a website.
Gbox is currently only available to US customers where it plans to rival Apple's iTunes store. For the same price as iTunes, music fans can download from Gbox or from Amazon. The BBC reports that the service will benefit from a special advertising deal with Google.
