Tesco rolls out 200 in-store collection points

The new, 1,000-page Tesco Direct catalogue has landed in stores and will be joined by customer service desks enabling customers to order and collect non-food products which have been ordered online.

Some 200 desks will be introduced later this year in supermarkets across the country in a move which follows "fantastic feedback from customers who have used the desks at the handful of pilot stores since the service launched last August," says Tesco Direct. Shoppers told Tesco that they liked the convenience of being able to collect or order products at the same time as they do the weekly shop.

The new catalogue is five times larger that the initial catalogue and includes over 7,000 non-food products. Over 11,000 products are available on the Tesco Direct site.

Steve Robinson, CEO Tesco Direct, comments: "The Tesco Direct experience is designed to make customers' lives easier. The convenience of ordering and picking up Tesco Direct products in stores has proved particularly popular with customers, which is why we have made a decision to roll out the desks to a further 200 stores later this year."

Tesco Direct customers can choose the product they want on the website or from the catalogue and then order by phone, from the website or at the Tesco Direct desks. It is the first supermarket to offer next-day delivery on non-food items as standard (if orders are placed by 12 noon), and also offers two hour time slots for the home delivery of smaller items every day of the week.
