Ted Baker launches Facebook ecommerce application
The new service from Schway lets consumers create outfits and then click through to the Ted Baker site to make a purchase
Fashion retailer Ted Baker, fresh from reporting a £7.4 million increase in profits, has become the first retailer to sign up for a virtual shopping service from London-based Schway that lets consumers create virtual outfits both within Facebook and online, share them with friends and then click through to the retailer's website to purchase them.
The idea, says Schway md Eamonn Clarke, is to "let people experiment and see how they will coordinate your styles. Let them show their friends and of course, give them easy access to buy the whole outfit... The aim is to retain the online visitor by entertaining them with the possibilities of fashion."
The application has been developed to sit alongside existing content on fashion retailers' sites, aggregating collections to let shoppers play with everything from lingerie and coats to bags and bangles.
"It was important for us from the very start to develop an application that is easy, useful and addictive," says Clarke.
