Setting fire to e-commerce

Mercado is all fired up with a new version they’re calling Ignition

Setting fire to e-commerce

Mercado the e-commerce provider to UK high-street names such as Ted Baker, Blacks Leisure Group, Scotts of Stow, Arcadia, Zavvi and US retailers Macy's, Overstock.com, and Guess amongst others are to launch an eCommerce suite called Mercado Ignition in April.

Ignition is described as “a highly customizable eCommerce solution featuring what industry experts have referred to as the "most advanced merchandising interface", built on a proven site search and navigation platform - capable of delivering high performance, while scaling to millions of products.”

The software features new storefront technology and boasts the latest Web 2.0 navigation and a "single-page" shopping experience.

Corey Leibow, President and CEO of Mercado said "We believe this market is underserved. Some of our customers have seen 80 to 100 percent growth over the past couple of years; their needs are changing and they are quickly outgrowing their existing eCommerce solution," adding "And they're not alone. There are thousands of emerging eCommerce businesses that are ready to move to a robust hosted solution that will take them to the next level, but can't because of prohibitive costs or technology barriers."

The solution will come in two flavours

  • Mercado Ignition – delivered as either a licensed on premised software or a managed service model.
  • Mercado Ignition OnDemand – Mercado Ignition OnDemand is a complete eCommerce solution, configured as a software-as-a-service application (SaaS), and built for online businesses looking for search, navigation, merchandising, and storefront capabilities.
