PC World launches Text & Collect
PC World has launched a new 'Text & Collect' service using the SmartAgent eSMS technology launched last year by numero. The new service allows customers to check availability and reserve products via text, free of charge.
Customers already have three options when shopping at PC World; in-store, over the telephone or online via the PC World website, but this new technology will provide customers with a fourth option [says the press release] - the ability to shop via text whilst on the move.
"The technology allows us to offer our customers an even greater choice and even more flexibility when shopping, said Phil Walker, Multi Channel Director, PC World.
"By texting 'COLLECT' plus a postcode and a product number, we can very quickly check for the availability of a product in up to three stores closest to the customer. If the customer would like us to reserve that item, they simply text 'RESERVE' back to us and we will confirm with a reservation number."
"This is an exciting technological breakthrough," said Guy Colclough, Chief Executive, numero. "Never before has the technology existed to read, understand and respond to customers via SMS without human interaction - we're entering a new phase in shopping".
