Payment problems for PayPal and RBS
Both PayPal and WorldPay are slow to respond to problems with their payment systems.
The internet has been abuzz with moans about PayPal this week. It seems that there was a glitch in the payment verification systems that prevented websites from taking payments from users in different countries. The problem was first announced on the Clicky blog and according to Clicky took PayPal over two weeks to solve which the official PayPal developer site confirms – so it probably wasn’t the greatest week for PayPal to issue a press release on a survey on shopping cart abandonment.
Elsewhere scurrilous IT website The Register reported on a cross-site scripting bug on the Royal Bank of Scotland’s Worldpay service, that remained unfixed from April 29th to May 21st.
Are developers really expensive, or is everyone on holiday?
