New mobile service lets consumers check prices online and in-store
GotYourPriceCheck takes only 60 seconds to text consumers the lowest prices at two nearby retailers and on the web for gadgets they are looking at or interested in buying
GotYourPriceCheck works in a similar way to conventional price comparison websites — but it allows people to compare prices for electrical products and gadgets on their mobile phones, online and in-store at nearby retailers.
The service is quick and easy to use. Shoppers simply text the word 'price', plus the make and model of the item they want, along with a location, to 60706. Within 60 seconds they will receive an SMS response detailing the two local stores with the cheapest retail prices, plus the best web price.
The service is free of charge for retailers but shoppers pay 35p plus standard network charges for each search. GotYourPriceCheck will launch within the M25 in December and a nationwide rollout is planned for early 2009.
GotYourPriceCheck founder Harmeet Baxi explained that "More than ever, in the current economic climate, shoppers are looking for bargains and retailers are looking for fresh ways to promote their best prices and get customers in store. Retailers who sign up to GotYourPriceCheck will immediately begin to reap the benefits and, with many of their closest competitors coming on board, they can't afford to miss out,” Retail Bulletin reports.
