Keep your Google Quality Score high

Amongst the new releases at last week’s Internet World show was a new service from Keynote that analyses the speed of Google ad landing pages, in order to keep your Google Quality Score high.

Google made a statement back in March http://www.internetretailing.net/news/adwords-to-cost-more?searchterm=google+landing+page+quality that they were planning on cracking down on landing pages that loaded too slowly, but for most website owners there was no real way of checking response time until now.

Internet test & measurement company Keynote have launched Keynote SEM landing page performance reports. The new reports are intended to help businesses by giving a performance data for Google ad landing pages.

Google’s Quality Score – which is derived from several factors including ad page loading time - influences an advertisers’ position on Google and the Google Network. It also partly determines an advertisers’ keyword minimum bid. In general, the higher an advertisers’ Quality Score, the better an advertisers’ ad position and the lower their minimum bids.

Google’s Quality Score helps ensure that only the most relevant ads appear to users on Google and the Google Network. Relevant ads earn more clicks, appear in a higher position and bring online advertisers’ the most success. Google has announced that landing page load time is being incorporated into the Quality Score to improve the overall user experience and says users have the best experience when they don’t have to wait a long time for landing pages to load and that users are more likely to abandon landing pages that load slowly, which hurt an advertisers’ conversion rate.

“Marketers compulsively optimise SEM ad copy and bids to get the highest ranking within budget. Page load time performance is just the next frontier for search marketing,” said Anshu Agarwal, executive director of marketing at Keynote. “This change by Google elevates the performance imperative to the marketing suite – it’s not just for Web operations geeks anymore.”
