Jane Norman races ahead with new transactional website

Fashion retailer Jane Norman expects online sales to hit £6 million this year — and £20 million within three to four years — after launching its first transactional website last month. Drapers Online reports that:

The retailer launched its transactional website four weeks ago and has already notched up average sales of £100,000 a week without any marketing support.

Jane Norman said it expected to achieve online sales of £6m by this time next year, when it will have launched a marketing push and invested in search engine optimisation to drive traffic to its site. Chief executive Saj Shah said he expected to be turning over £20m online within three to four years.

"The design, build and on-going hosting and operation of the Jane Norman website is the result of a successful partnership between Jane Norman, Pod1 and BT Fresca," says the company's website:

Pod1 developed the architecture and front-end design and BT Fresca configured their e-commerce platform (Fresca Commerce) to meet the demanding design and functional requirements, and integrated with the systems of Jane Norman's fulfilment partner Amethyst. Jane Norman has integrated their merchandising system with the Fresca Commerce Platform.

Pod1 have a proven development process for developing effective website structures and a reputation for designing high quality user interfaces based on audience profiling, user journeys and years of web design experience. The Fresca Commerce Platform is a feature-rich, high-availability on-demand e-commerce platform used by a number of leading retailers that can be tailored to provide a unique customer experience, and is hosted and managed 24 x 365 by BT Fresca.

This rigorous process and design integrity from Pod1, coupled with BT Fresca's managed e-commerce service provision, has proved a winning combination.

Great to hear that the BT Fresca platform is handlig good volumes straight from the off. We are looking to implement with these guys for a major fashion retailer and whilst Fresca have many clients I don't think many will be of this scale...unless anyone knows different of course. Would be very interesting to know what Jane Norman sized the platform for as the unknown is always a major concern.
