How to value home delivery?
The IMRG have released a major review of online shopping delivery
The new IMRG report presents the findings of a major review of UK online shopping delivery and finds that enormous improvements are being made: Shopper satisfaction with home delivery (81.1%) has improved significantly, and now ranks second only to 'Product Choice' (84.3%).
While the UK market value trebled during the past three years, overall delivery failure costs remained static, as efficiency improved. Innovative new, large scale fulfilment solutions being introduced indicate that IMRG's target of 100% industry-wide delivery success will be achievable.
At an industry level, the key advance has been the introduction of the gridlock-breaking IDIS Delivery Manager by MetaPack (IDIS DM), a major innovation in home delivery for internet shopping that enables e-retailers of all sizes to offer their customers a variety of delivery options from multiple carriers and services. This is invaluable if disruption occurs because it enables retailers to maintain continuity of service by switching easily to contingency carriers.
The report is available to IMRG members only.
