50m email database can fill in the blanks in your customer list
A new permission-based database holding 50 million email addresses can identify potential customers through profiling existing lists and pulling in new matches.
A new service backed by a permission-based database holding 50 million pan-European email addresses will offer retailers the chance to append high-quality electronic contact details to their customer lists -- and also a means to identify further potential customers through profiling existing lists and pulling in new matches on a swap basis.
The service, known as Email Exchange, has been put together by the Knutsford-based database marketing specialists The Marketing Innovation Group and draws on 14,000 sources. It includes more than 20 million email addresses for UK-based customers of online businesses and some five million business email addresses culled mainly from exhibition and conference registrations.
"Existing email append lists have often been drawn from promotions and competitions, and they tend to be include a lot of secondary email addresses. Using details from purchasers gives better quality," MIG chief executive Rob Bielby told Internet Retailing. "There are other database append services, but none are as large as this, and the potential for exchange is the most exciting aspect of the product. Six of our customers have signed up for the permission-based exchange part of the service since we started telling people about it last Friday," added Bielby.
The company plans to further leverage the database by offering an online tool to be called 'Target Prospector' later this year.
