3DVO delivers a low cost 3D modelling solution

3D models are notoriously costly, but by using a new modelling package from 3DVO retailers should be able to create everything in 3D including the fixtures and fittings. But don’t all rush at once, there’s a big drawback.

3DVO delivers a low cost 3D modelling solution

US Software company 3DVO has launched a new product that claims to cost 40 to 60 percent less than other available technologies and is the end product of five years of research.

The technology behind 3DVO combines laser distance measurement with digital colour imagery for precise distance and colour effects. The 3D datasets can be used immediately or stored for later viewing, analysis and manipulation as exact image replicas.

Retailers send their products to 3DVO, and the company returns 3D images that can be manipulated by the consumer during the online purchasing process.

Troy Sheen, CEO of 3DVO says

“One way retailers are increasing online sales is by creating a realistic store experience. In the past they could only afford to create 3D models for their flagship products, but with our technology they can create 3D models for every single product – increasing online conversion rates.”

It all sounds great but we can see one major flaw in this product. Sending the objects into 3DVO is going to be a little expensive and unless they’re ramped up for accepting thousands of products, then it will take months to create the 3D objects. There has to be an easier way.

3DVO Is The Easier Way

Marcus, You raise a valid point that turnaround time and costs should be aligned with our claim of low cost accelerated 3D modelling. Companies, depending on size and sophistication, currently send products to an in-house or outsourced photo studio to develop still-life two dimension photos for online catalogs. 3DVO simply replaces that function, and thus will not increase production time or transport cost. However, our technology is differentiated from current methods of developing 3D models enabling us to deliver models at high volumes and low unit cost. We are ramped for accepting thousands of products and the technology is quickly scalable.

Additionally, we are developing solutions for larger retailers that wish to bring our technology in-house. In the mean time 3DVO offers retailers a clear means of differentiating their offering and increasing online sales right now! Thanks for raising the question. We are the easier way.
