New women’s designer fashion site launches

Submitted by on January 31, 2011 – 9:24 amOne Comment

A new ecommerce site offering “cross-over” women’s fashion launches this week.

The Clothes Parlour starts trading on February 1 and aims to offer affordable designer fashion.

The site is launched by Joan Lilley, with partners, after gaining start-up capital funding last year.

Lilley, whose previous ventures were in the recruitment and professional services sectors, said: “The Clothes Parlour offers chic clothes with a contemporary edge that are easy to wear to the office and painlessly translate into a stylish outfit for the evening, delivering a feel of high-end luxury without a faint-inducing price tag.”

The site, designed and developed by ecommerce services company Screen Pages, using Magento initially offers 400 lines from designers including Cacharel, Goat, Orla Kieley and American Vintage. Features include the ability to filter searches on criteria such as designer and price, to inspect close-up using zoom and mouse-over functions as well as integrated social media such as Facebook and Twitter feeds, a blog, and reviews.

Roger Willcocks, director of Screen Pages, said: “We are really pleased to be working with The Clothes Parlour. Unlike many online start-ups it has a clear focus and strategy, a sensible, well-documented plan, experienced management and staff and proper funding to invest and compete in a busy online universe.”
