Submitted by Michael Matzer on March 17, 2010 – 2:30 pm2 Comments

An upcoming German “Video Shopping Guide” by Exciting Commerce might become standard reading before year’s end. Blogger and expert Stephan Randler gives an number of recommendations, analyses and outlooks useful to e-retailers using videos. The table of contents and the introduction (in German, of course) can be downloaded HERE (PDF). Early registered buyers of the Guide get a reduction of 50 €: They pay only 99 € instead of 149 €.

Randler tells you why video content has become so important in e-retailing and will soon become indispensable fot online shops. Teleshopping broadcasters have employed videos for decades and know how to generate emotional shopping experiences – Randler tells how e-retailer can profit from this know-how.

The author shows the basic video sale methods for e-retailers and tells you which are suited to different sorts of shops. Using checklists, usability tips and best practice examples you can plan and realize your own video commerce application. Search engine optimization (SEO) is certainly an important part of this.

One major aspect of “v-commerce” is certainly the cost of video commerce applications, where you can get them and how you achieve a return on your investment in A/V content (or refinance it).

Who is who in video commerce applications an what users can learn from the market leaders is the next part of the book. The final part is devoted to the future development of the market for video shopping services. The author argues that topics like mobile commerce and augmented reality will play an important role.

In the appendix you will find numerous recommendations for further reading, including expert blogs, as well as download links for useful whitepapers and case studies.
