Waitrose has selected Infosys Technologies to co-develop a new multi-channel web platform designed to deliver “a fully integrated online experience.”

The new single website at www.waitrose.com will be based on IBM Websphere Commerce technology and will include simpler navigation, intuitive design and enhancements to search features including the 5,000 family-friendly recipes Waitrose already provides online.

“We see this as a very exciting development for Waitrose as part of our ambition to become a truly multi-channel business with a strong and differentiated ecommerce business as one part of that,” says the supermarket’s director of ecommerce, Rob Collins. “The new website is a very important part of our strategy in this regard, and we are delighted to be working with Infosys on such a substantial project. Their experience and expertise in this field is a significant asset as is their depth of capability. Those are critical requirements to successfully deliver a project of this scale especially in the time horizon that we are working to.”

“To provide its customers with the information they need, Waitrose is taking an integrated multi-channel approach to give them a seamless shopping experience,” explained Infosys’ Karmesh Vaswani. “Our work with Waitrose will also provide the grocer with the ability to add new services in the future, allowing it to further improve customer experience and choice.”
