Sainsbury’s picks HDNL for non-food deliveries

Submitted by on August 11, 2009 – 10:42 amNo Comment

Sainsbury’s, which launched its long-anticipated non-food online offering two weeks ago, has appointed Home Delivery Network (HDNL) as its primary parcels carrier.

The supermarket will be utilising HDNL’s 24 and 48-hour home delivery services, and will also offer Saturday deliveries.

“The extension of our online proposition into non-food requires us to provide our customers with a consistently high level of delivery service to the home as well as the ability for them to have their parcels delivered to suit their busy lifestyles,” says David James, head of non-food logistics at Sainsbury’s. “Having researched the market we believe that HDNL is the market leader in both of these important areas.”

“We look forward to helping Sainsbury’s grow their on-line proposition by making the home shopping experience as easy and rewarding for their customers as a visit to their local Sainsbury store,” promises Brian Gaunt, HDNL’s chief executive.
