Gap launches design an iPhone app competition

Submitted by Sarah Clark on August 3, 2009 – 11:28 amNo Comment

Gap has launched a design an iPhone app competition, in conjunction with mobile applications platform provider Mobclix. The winning application will be selected as Gap’s next iPhone app and will receive a cash prize from a Silicon Valley venture capitalist, a $1,000 Gap gift card and a free advertising package from Mobclix.

Each week, a favourite app is being chosen from new submissions and is featured on the Mobclix web site. The community can then vote on the People’s Choice winning app and a panel of expert judges will then help Gap and Mobclix choose the Grand Prize winner.

The contest is open to US app developers and runs until 1 September.

“Gap is one of the world’s most iconic brands, so we’re thrilled to be able to bring this opportunity to the developer community,” says Krishna Subramanian, co-founder of Mobclix. “The exposure that the finalists and winner of this competition will receive is invaluable. We’re excited to see the creativity that emerges from the submissions and eager to help developers get access to the tools they need to make successful apps for the iPhone.”
