M&S reports online sales up 28%

Submitted by on July 3, 2009 – 3:47 pmNo Comment

Marks and Spencer has reported an increase in online sales of 28% for the first quarter of its trading year, covering the 13 weeks to 27 June.

Overall group sales are up 2.9%, boosted by both online and international sales growth.

“We are pleased with the improving trend in our performance,” says M&S chairman Sir Stuart Rose. “This demonstrates that the actions we are taking are working.

“Consumer confidence appears to be stabilising,” he adds. “However, we remain cautious about the outlook for the remainder of this and next year and will continue to run the business accordingly.”
