Travelodge launches GPS-based room booking service for iPhones
Travelodge has become the first UK hotel brand to offer consumers a free GPS room booking service via Apple’s iPhone.
To use the service, customers first download the Travelodge iBooker app from the iTunes Application Store. They can then simply touch the Travelodge logo on their iPhone and the software will use the phone’s built-in GPS to automatically locate the nearest five Travelodge hotels and return images, availability, distance and room rates. They can then also proceed to make a booking.
Travelodge iBooker can also be used to book Travelodge rooms without using the GPS service. Users select a specific hotel and arrival dates and the software then returns the best room prices available. They then select a room type and proceed to making the booking.
“With the launch of iBooker, Travelodge continues to pioneer the leisure industry by making its hotels even more accessible to everyone via low cost, location and ease of booking,” says Guy Parsons, Travelodge UK’s managing director. “We are delighted to be the UK’s first hotel brand to launch a free GPS based iPhone application. With the Travelodge iBooker service, wherever you are, you can always find a low cost bed for the night”.
